George F Canyon Nature Center Docent Training, Saturday, February 11th, 9am – 12pm. Would you like to share your love of nature with others?  Here is your chance!  The Conservancy is recruiting volunteers interested in sharing the unique geographic and historical features of the area with visitors.  Trail Crew Introductory Class, Saturday, February 11th, 9am – 12pm.  Join our introductory class to learn how you can improve Peninsula trails with various techniques for erosion repair, building rock walls, proper pruning and more!  No experience needed.  18 and over.  Guided NATURE WALK by Palos Verdes Peninsula Land Conservancy at Sacred Cove, Saturday, February 11th, 3pmSituated between Portuguese Point and Inspiration Point, this small cove features wonderful rock formations edged with tide pools and a channel into a sea cave.  This is a strenuous walk. Abalone Cove Shoreline Park, 5970 Palos Verdes Dr. South across from Wayfarers Chapel. Full Moon Hike at George F Canyon, Friday, February 10th with the Palos Verdes Peninsula Land Conservancy.  Explore nocturnal sights with an expert naturalist under a full moon at the George F Canyon Nature Preserve.  Must be age 9 and up.  $12 per person.  Reservations required at www.pvplc.org, Events & Activities.

“Discovering our Local Endangered Butterflies” White Point Nature Education Center & Preserve, Saturday, February 25th, 11am.  Join the Palos Verdes Peninsula Land Conservancy for a presentation by expert Ann Dalkey on the history, ecology and biology of our local endangered butterflies and how these inform our restoration activities promoting their survival. Rapid Response Team, Fridays and Saturdays, 9am – 12pm. Work alongside Conservancy staff protecting important wildlife habitat by closing unauthorized trails! Task include trail maintenance, building fence, installing signage and more! We work at various locations around the Preserve where work is most needed. Directions to sites emailed upon sign up.
