PVE Police Arrest Burglary Suspect in Lunada Bay

On Thursday, December 3, 2015, at approximately 11:21 a.m., a PVE resident in the 2800 block of Victoria Place called PVEPD after she saw a suspicious vehicle park on her street. The resident observed two male suspects, whom she had never seen before, walk up to her neighbor’s door which was did not appear to be normal.

PVEPD patrol officers responded immediately and arrived within minutes to discover the described vehicle fleeing the location. Officers stopped the car to investigate, however only the driver was in the car at that time – the other occupants were somewhere in the neighborhood.

Other officers started checking the immediate area for the other suspects and in doing so, located a broken window on the side of a nearby residence. It was later determined the residents of that home were not at home and the house had in fact been burglarized. The driver of the vehicle was arrested for suspicion of burglary. Evidence recovered at the scene linked the suspects to additional theft and/or burglary crime(s) in the city of Rancho Palos Verdes across the nearby city border.

Several officers from PVE PD, Redondo Beach PD, and the Sheriff’s Department responded to the scene to assist, as did a helicopter from LASD and a K-9 Officer from Redondo Beach PD. An exhaustive search of the residential area and the house was conducted, but no additional suspects were located. PVEPD Detectives are continuing to investigate this crime.

We encourage our residents to stay alert to cars and people in our city which are unfamiliar. Residents are asked to call the PVE PD to report such observations so officers can be sent to investigate. PVE PD depends on the eyes and ears of the residents to curb this increase in burglaries within our neighborhoods. If you see something, say something by calling 310-378-4211.
