DESCRIPTION:Every year\, the Palos Verdes Homes Association holds an election to select members of the Board of Directors.  Because the election is non-binding if the election cannot garner a quorum of you\, the PVE homeowners\, voting is very important. \nThe League of Women Voters (LWV) of Palos Verdes Peninsula will host a Candidates’ Forum so that you can meet the candidates. \nThe LWV has a distinguished history of non-partisan\, unbiased advocacy for citizen engagement in the democratic process. LWV will invite all 9 candidates in the race to the forum. Questions for the candidates will be collected ahead of time\, and provisions will be made for audience questions at the forum. DESCRIPTION:Coastal Cleanup Day is the largest volunteer event on the planet. More than 10\,000 volunteers from all over Southern California will do their part to clean up their local beaches\, rivers\, creeks and parks. \nSince 1985\, the City of Palos Verdes Estates has teamed with Heal the Bay to host a cleanup site in Malaga Cove. Coastal Cleanup Day is a great opportunity for your family and friends to do something wonderful for our beloved beaches and oceans. \nThis year\, Coastal Cleanup Day will be on Saturday\, September 16 from 9 a.m. until 12 p.m. and there are two sites in Palos Verdes Estates (Malaga Cove and Lunada Bay). The band has performed as part of this series in the past\, and appears in a return engagement by popular demand. \nElectric violinist and vocalist Susie Hansen plays fiery Latin Jazz and Salsa\, creating music that brings audiences to their feet\, dancing in the aisles. Susie and her Los Angeles-based band have been acclaimed by many critics\, such as Phil Elwood from the San Francisco Examiner who describes them this way: “It’s a sizzling\, swinging Salsa band. Hansen can solo as if her bow was afire. The whole room was jumpin’ for joy.” \nAccording to Oscar Abadia\, KLVE-FM\, radio K-Love in Los Angeles\, “Susie Hansen is the greatest Salsa violinist in America.” She has been featured as a soloist with Orquesta Los Van Van\, Cuba’s premier dance orchestra\, both in Los Angeles and in Havana\, Cuba\, and with Orquesta Aragon\, the world’s most acclaimed Cuban Charanga ensemble.
